FAQ: FAQ

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a theraputic technique that originated in Japan for stress reduction, healing, and relaxation. (Rei) meaning "Universal LIfe" and (Ki) meaning "Energy". It can be used for healing the body, mind, and spirit.  Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki can help a person to connect with their own healing energy and also use it to strengthen the energy in themselves. It is believed that a person's energy travels along pathways in the body. These pathways should be strong and free flowing so the person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy in ones body becomes weak or blocked it could lead to physical or emotional symptoms. Reiki works by unblocking and fixing the imbalances that can lead to physical and emotional symptoms such as depression, anxiety, illness, and disease. Reiki is not a religion and does not require any religious affiliation in order for you to experience its positive effects.

What can you expect from a Reiki session?

Each Reiki session and individual's healing is very personal. Everyone's energy system is unique and therefore they experience things in different ways. Much like a medition session, Reiki sessions in general are very relaxing and comforting. Clients remain fully clothed on a massage table. I apply gentle touch by laying my hands on different areas of the body. Some people feel different sensations such as heat, tingly movements, waves, heaviness or lightness. The energy being given to you through this technique is always working toward your highest good and can not harm you in anyway.

Can I receive Reiki if I am being treated by a physician, counselor, or therapist?

Reiki is a wonderful compliment if you are already working with your doctors, therapists, and counselors. Reiki does not interfere with medication. Reiki should in no way take the place of licensed medical care. I do not diagnose conditions nor do I prescribe medication. Reiki works in concert with many complimentary treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture, counseling and physical therapy. If you are seeking my services while being treated by others, I encourage you to share with them that you are receiving Reiki treatments so that he/she can take that in to account as they monitor your symptoms and overall wellness.

How often should I receive my Reiki treatments?

Just like most practices that encourage better health and healing, it would be best to incorporate Reiki into your regular routine. However, sometimes just one session can help make a difference. After your initial visit, we can discuss the best options on your goals and what would help you reach them.
